Fun in the backyard pool
This wouldn't have worked so well with the pool on our concrete patio at the old townhouse!

Looks like the party was successful!
The ending of Cole's 5th birthday! What a success! Bounce house, new swing set "park", more than 50 people cycling through and many Angry Birds! Needless to say, we could all use a rest.

We moved into the new house yesterday!
Here is the first documented proof that this is officially "our" home. In the basement there is a fun little alcove that has shelves for games and a little nook under the stairs for the kids to hide away in. We figured that was the perfect place to document their growth. So we marked them each on the wall to start our measurements. Oh how they will grow and grow in this house. We plan to be here to see them off to college!

Who knows computers
What are we teaching our children? I guess it's a good thing that they are this well-versed in computers already. Take a look at the two kids along with their mother on all of their laptops at the dining room table tonight. I think they know how to operate the iPad better than their mother already! Let's hope they keep these smarts up!

Excuse me, what?
Tonight I asked Kira to do something and she turns to me and says "estacupado." I'm sorry, what???? So she says it again. Finally, after three tries, I realize she is probably speaking Spanish to me so I ask Cole to translate. He cannot think of the English translation, but confirms it's Spanish. So I work with him, patiently asking questions. "Is it a noun or a verb?' He's four, so I then have to explain what nouns and verbs are...he gets frustrated and tells me "Don't you know?!" After about five minutes of trying to figure it out he says to me "I know! I know - I remember how to say it in English. She is saying she's busy!" I said, "OH! Esta occupado!" Yeah, that's what she said, he says. Like "duh." My spanish is not that great and then you add a two-year-old's pronunciation to it and I'm clearly doomed...thank goodness we figured it out! Just another adventure in the Toliver household :-) Oh, and by the way, I think it's hysterical that my two year old told me she's too busy to do something! Already sounding like a teenager...what are we in for?!
Schooled by a 4 year old
Tonight after I got done bathing the kids (typically Dave's job but he's out with at a company bowling event tonight) we did what we always do - pick out the pajamas. Cole and Kira each go to their drawer to get their choice of pjs. Well, tonight Kira picked out three pairs before she decided on one and so I began folding the others back up to put back into her drawer. Cole sees me and comes over and says - "mama, want me to show you how to fold those the right way?" Dumbfounded, I said "sure." So he carefully folds the pant legs and arms of the shirt and puts it back in the drawer. I'm not gonna lie - it looked better than my folding job! Just more proof that Holly Homemaker I'm not, and that Delia is a wonderful nanny who is teaching the kids things I cannot! It was too cute.

Conversation with Cole
I just got done reading and singing to Cole (bedtime routine) and when I turned to leave he, as he's been doing lately, began his list of questions for me. This last one has got to be documented because it's pretty damn funny.
Cole: "Mama, you know what I learned at preschool today?"
Mama: "What honey?"
Cole: "That Jesus died for us."
Mama: "You learned that in Chapel?"
Cole: "Yes. Why did he die for us?"
Mama: "They didn't tell you why?
Cole: "No. But I learned that he's not in the sky anymore. He's back here."
Mama: "What do you mean he's back here?"
Cole: "You know - in the world."
Mama: "Really? How did that happen?"
Cole: "Don't you know how gravity works?!"
Laugh out loud! Duh - gravity pulled Jesus back down from heaven...why didn't I realize that?
I'm going to have a lot to discuss with his preschool teacher next week at our parent/teacher conference!
