New Developments in Connecting Things... Colors and Letters!

So, mamma and dadda are very impressed that I've moved from just connecting things like an elephant in my book to my toy elephant. Today I was doing a puzzle with the alphabet letters and I picked up the letter "Z"... then I ran over to my padded mat with letters in it and pulled out the letter "Z" from there!

A couple hours later I was playing with some blocks and picked up a purple block... then I ran over to one of my puzzles with colored cars in it and picked up the purple car (pictured below)! Looks like my cognitive development is kicking into overdrive these days. :-)

Connecting My Immediate Space with the Outside World

Lately I've been putting two and two together and connecting things that are right in front of me with other things that are not in front of me. For example, this morning I was looking at a book that had a picture of an elephant of it... that made me think of the toy elephant that was in the dining room, so I went and got it... and that made me think of the elephant slide at the park, so I made dadda take me outside (in the snow!) to the park.

And now I can connect pictures with feelings... When I look at this picture from over two months ago, I say, "Brrrrrrr!"

I Understand EVERYthing, But I Don't Really Say Much! :-)

Momma, Dadda, and Delia (my nanny) think I now understand every word in both the English and Spanish languages, but they don't know why I don't say too much. Today I wanted to watch a Baby Einstein video and I looked in all the normal spots for the remote to give to Momma. She looked at me and said, "Remember this morning? Where was I sitting when you brought the remote to me this morning?" Well, I climbed off the couch and knew right where to go... over to the dining room table and pointed to the remote on top of the table. Momma was very impressed that I understood her!

Delia said to Dadda earlier today, "He understands everything I say to him, but he doesn't say much back!" And she only speaks to me in Spanish, which is fun! Dadda said, "I know, and the things he says are random... he won't say 'dog' but he'll say 'gorillilllla'!" Well, 'gorillillla' is fun to say! Dog is just boring! :-)

Look, dad, that looks like my favorite animal...

...an elephant! I have such a vivid imagination when we go for walks
in the woods!

Welcome ME to the World!

Hi everybody! Welcome to my site... dedicated to keeping you up to date on what I'm doing "now" and what I'm learning as I move through life! My name's Cole, and I'll be updating you as regularly as my Dadda and Momma let me near a computer! :-)

Just as a little background... I came into the world a little while ago, about 19-20 months ago on June 27, 2007. I was born at Sibley Hospital in NW Washington DC to my parents Jessica and David. I was 8lbs 6.8ozs and 20 inches long when I was born at 1:57pm.

I just happened to be born on my Great Grandpa Toliver's birthday (but about 90 years later!) and I share his middle name (same as my dad's) and his initials "CET" (his name was Clarence Edward... thank goodness they didn't name me Clarence!!)

Anyway, my dad's been wanting to put together a site for me for a while now and I finally gave him a little help. SO, what you're reading now is my "blog". Lot's has happened since I was born, obviously, but I guess we'll pick up the story now.

Hope you enjoy! :-)
